Janice White, 70, of Goldsboro departed this walk of life Friday, February 13, 2026 at UNC Health Wayne in Goldsboro.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Sandhill Cemetery in Clinton. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. White was born in Rich Square, NC on July 20, 1955 to the late James Richard Williams Sr. and Pastor Mary A. Williams. Janice grew up in the Bronx, New York and Newark, New Jersey. She graduated from Malcom X Shabazz (formerly Southside) High School. Janice attended Essex County College (ECC) in Newark where she earned various certificates in the Nursing and Health Sciences field. She also worked at ECC as a cashier/food service attendant before devoting over 20 years as a certified nursing aide. Janice was an active volunteer in adult day care centers throughout the Greater Newark area before she and her husband retired and relocated to Goldsboro where her parents and other family members settled. She was a woman of steadfast faith, whose life was built on the teachings of Jesus Christ and dedicated to a lifetime of worship.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her husband, Lawrence Philip White (Sonny), whom she affectionately called "Bubba;" one son, Emmit Williams and wife, Sabrina Harrison Williams of Goldsboro; two brothers, James R. Williams Jr. of Sacramento, California and Marley E. Williams of Goldsboro; five sisters, Rev. Bertha E. Williams of Goldsboro, Bishop Johnnie Mae Johnson and husband, Eric Johnson Sr. of Vista, California, Kay Annette Randolph of Newark, New Jersey, Alice F. English of Goldsboro and Glenda J. Ramey of Goldsboro; one brother-in-law, Andrew Boykin of Goldsboro, three grandchildren, Emmit Tamaz Harrison, Aviyah Janaeah Harrison, Emmit July Legend Harrison and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Barbarene Boykin.
